Anniversary Committee of the Royal Oak Schools Foundation!
When public school financing was becoming difficult in the late 1980's and early 1990's, our Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools Superintendent set out to form a nonprofit dedicated to our public schools and the added needs of teachers, staff and programs to be continued for a full educational experience! In October 1992, Superintendent Larry Nichols selected 9 founding members and went to work in creating what is now The Royal Oak Schools Foundation, a nonprofit 501c3 for enriching the lives of our youth in educational opportunities! Teacher grants became a "Go-Fund Me" of the early 90's to fill the gap deprived by legislative actions. The funding environment has improved, but the ROSF is still needed for the mission of the big picture in today's schoolkids environs. Security, the need for internet infrastructure at the homes of the vulnerable, the demands on kids, staff and teachers has gone above what was thought of 30 years ago. Help us, Help the Schools!
