From The PresidentLynn Johnson, President Royal Oak Schools Foundation 2021 I am honored to be the President of the Royal Oak Schools Foundation. Since 1993, we’ve played and increasing role in providing funds for school’s facilities, programs, scholarships, and support for public schools’ youth. The COVID Pandemic Crisis The Royal Oak Schools Foundation has a very strong and resilient Board who in 2020 impressively pivoted in many directions. Pivoting began with the transition of plans for our $25,000 spring Literacy Project. As a Board, we voted to take those allocated funds and use them to help others. We understood the ROSD community’s needs were vast and we wanted to meet the immediate needs of our district’s families. Donations were made to Royal Oak Youth Assistance and Blessings in a Backpack. In June of 2020, the Foundation’s Annual Golf Outing was also cancelled due to the pandemic. Looking again as to how we could best support our community the Board created the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market Haul. What started small grew to approximately 60 orders per week, running from May through October. The project supported Royal Oak Farmer’s Market farmers as well small food businesses. Orders were collected, sorted, and delivered to those that ordered every Saturday morning. Join us in the fun as we continue this amazing service by placing your order beginning May 9, 2021. New items are being introduced; place your order for a week of fresh cooking. Good news, we have unanimously voted to proceed with the Literacy Project for the 2021-22 school year! With the help of the ROSD Curriculum Coordinator and Reading Specialist we have put together a wonderful start to next school year’s reading objectives. Looking for ways to donate? Here are some ideas: Become a “Friend of the Foundation” through direct donation, name the Royal Oak Schools Foundation when purchasing on Amazon Smiles, order your produce and goods from the Farmer's Market Haul, golf with us this year and /or become a golf sponsor. Whichever way you choose to help, we applaud it!! We look forward to the new opportunities ahead! If at any time you would like to contact me, please do so at [email protected] and visit Royal Oak Schools Foundation. We look forward to 2021 and seeing all of our ROSD teachers, staff, and students!
